Abstract

Children learning in science (CLIS) model by orientation through physical phenomenon observation is a model which make students actively through find solution for problems and produce meaningful knowledge. The purposes of this research are (1) To describe students’ learning activities during learning process, (2) To study difference of learning effectiveness after using this model, and (3) To study the significant difference of students’ physics achievement after using this model. Kinds of research is a quasi experiment research by using control group pre-test post-test design. The technique of data collection are observation, documentation, interview, and test. The data analysis technique uses description analysis and Independent Sample T-Test. Result of the study are (1) The students’ learning activities is 88.04%, it is called more active, (2) learning effectiveness is 0.017 or 0.05. So, there is a significant difference of learning effectiveness between the class using this model and direct intruction learning model and (3) students’ physics achievement is 0.000 or 0.05. So, there is a significant difference of students’ physics achievement between using this model and direct intruction learning model. This study can be concluded that (1) Students’ learning activities during joins the physics learning by using this model are in more active category, (2) there is a significant difference of learning effectiveness between the class using this model and direct intruction learning model and (3) there is a significant difference of students’ physics achievement between using this model and direct intruction learning model.
