Abstract

Informed consent is not only used in the treatment of adult dental patients but also refers to children before any action is taken. Not all dentists provide informed consent due to lack of knowledge and time constraints. Objective: This study aims to determine the attitude of dentists in providing informed consent to pediatric patients. The research strategy taken was a literature review obtained from the academic databases Google Scholar, ProQuest, and Science Direct. Search for articles using the keywords "Informed Consent", "Pediatric Dentistry", and "Dental Care" using Prisma Method. Giving informed consent to pediatric patients must be accompanied by parental consent. Pediatric patients who can be consulted also need to be given information regarding the treatment that will be carried out. Dental care procedures that were routine and were considered not to be risky do not require written informed consent. Conclusion: Dentists must pay attention to filling out informed consent for pediatric patients to avoid lawsuits for undesirable events.
